Thierry Henry recently affirmed that he has great respect for Cristiano Ronaldo but he feels that his former team-mate from Barcelona is the better player.
Despite the fact that Henry has been known to voice out praises on Ronaldo’s consistent performance, especially during the course of the last four years, the ex-Barcelona striker has stressed the fact that he believes Messi is more praise-worthy.
Ronaldo had been voted the Ballon d’Or winner in January 2015 for the third time in his career. The first time that he was primed with this award was in 2008. Messi then went on to win it four times consecutively.
Despite the fact that Ronaldo has pipped the Ballon d’Or from Messi in the last two years in a row, Henry still thinks that his ex-teammate at Barcelona plays better than Ronaldo. He also added however, that the audience should enjoy watching both of their plays.
Henry added that he has great respect for Ronaldo’s ability to maintain a high game standard throughout several years. It’s a feat to be able to have a good season but it’s an amazing job to be able to keep the same level consistently across several years.
Henry further added that people might be aware of the achievements of the two players but they do not have a whole idea of what they are doing. The continuity, the ability to maintain good scores and the pressure that the players are faced with are often not given enough consideration.
Therefore, Henry has full respect for Ronaldo, but having played alongside Messi, he believes more in him.
