United manager Louis Van Gaal wants to bring Pedro to Manchester United for the 2015/16 season. Of course, with both strikers Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao gone, Wayne Rooney remains the only experienced member of the frontline.
Pedro will be Van Gaal’s latest signing if the full 22 million pound buyout clause in his contract as demanded by this year’s Champions League winners, FC Barcelona.
In explaining the reason for his choice, Van Gaal said, “You need creative players. We have to compare. Young has had a fantastic season, but he is not a Neymar and we have to compete with that kind of class.”
Until now, and according to the Spanish newspaper Sport, United have offered 17 million pounds for the striker but Barca are expecting the full amount as in his contract. However, the newspaper is sure that the deal will go through since they’ve already put a picture of Pedro in a Red Devils’ shirt on the front page of their paper.
If it does, then Van Gaal’s spending for this year would have exceeded 100 million pounds while it would exceeded the 250 million pound mark for the past two years.
For the 2015/16 season, Van Gaal has already bought Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay and Sergio Romero for 80 million pounds in all.
This should work out well for the Tenerife forward who has been playing the role of a supporting actor at Barcelona. He also admitted to having a “difficult time” in an interview in March this year too.
