Lukas Podolski’s has confirmed intentions to talk to Arsene Wenger prior to the opening of the transfer window for the new year. This discussions are likely to lead to a loan move from Wenger’s side to Internazionale as from next month. This is despite the fact that Arsenal fans have voiced out how much they wanted the player to stay in the club. However, the German player has made his intend to move clear by showing lack of satisfaction from the fact that he is constantly benched.
The 29 year old player mentioned that he does not want to just “sit around” and wait for his chance to play. He is enthusiastic about playing and not sitting in the stands. Sides that have shown interest in the player are Dortmund and Juventus. However Internazionale has already held talks with Arsenal and a £1.5m loan fee has been discussed. Inter is hoping to welcome Podolski right after Arsenal’s New Year Day’s game against Southampton for a temporary six month contract.
Wenger had dropped hints that he believes that Podolski’s London career might be coming to an end. He mentioned that since Mesut Ozil would be rejoining the team in January, there might be a lot of competition. Podolski was signed from Cologne in 2012 for a £10.5m deal. He still has one more year on his Arsenal contract. However if the spell with Italy is successful, the player is likely to depart on a permanent basis to join Inter.
