The current interim Manager for Chelsea, Guus Hiddink believes that the Midfielder John Obi Mikel is the ideal player for the team.

Since Hiddink took charge of the team, the Nigerian, 28 year old, has played three games for Chelsea.

Hiddink believes that Mikel has what is needed to help Chelsea defend the title. The Manager praised the player in being able to read his opponents and know how to achieve goals.

“He played very well but also in the previous game,” said Hiddink, following the game played with Crystal Palace.

“He’s the ideal player in my option to bring balance to the team. If the team is not willing to defend well, or hasn’t got the right balance, then you’ll concede a lot of goals.

“I think John Obi can be one of the key figures in bringing back that balance.

“On this podium very talented players can explore their qualities.

“He can recover his radar, he reads the game very well, he knows where the strength of the opponent is and knows how to combat that. He has very good sense, he doesn’t do it in a brutal way, he’s very elegant.”

Hiddink who had a long career as a midfielder, playing for his native Netherlands. He has previously played for De Graafschap and NEC Nijmegen. Since he retired from the game in 1982 he has gone on to enjoy an illustrious career in Management. With Hiddink’s experience, he would have a good understanding of what is required for this position and for Chelsea.
